See the Top Ten Boston Life Science Developers

October 11, 2022 by Hilda Martin Topics: Construction/Development, Leasing/Property Management

Boston is the center of the US Life Science universe, and it has been even more of a focal point for the investment community in the past few years. Not only for life science and biotech firms and their innovations, but also for the real estate that supports them. The Boston metro area is sprawling from downtown Boston and Cambridge out to the Route 495 corridor. There are just under 300 existing life science research & development and manufacturing properties totaling over 50 million square feet. Another 22.8 million square feet is currently under way and will deliver soon – a pretty substantial amount considering the moderate inventory growth Boston has seen previously. Funding increases in recent years have turbocharged the sector with big upticks in employment and along with that, need for space. Investors have been ready for the opportunity and have been building to meet that demand. See below the top 10 developers for projects currently underway in the Boston metro area. These 10 developers represent roughly half of the whole development pipeline in the area at 11 million square feet. Want to find out more about construction and supply and demand dynamics in Boston? Come join us this week for Life Science Real Estate Investment Forum right in Everett at the Boston Encore.
